Position Overview: The Reactor Plant Contractors' Office (RPCO) Program is in search of Field Engineers for our Electric Boat location in Groton, CT. This role presents a unique opportunity to engage in the construction of submarines that will serve for the next four decades.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as on-site representatives of NNL and BPMI, providing engineering support and independent oversight of reactor plant systems, components, and safety systems.
- Engage with Navy personnel, shipyard engineering teams, local government representatives, and partner organizations.
- Influence and provide feedback to on-site management during nuclear operations.
Training and Development: The selected candidate will undergo training and qualification, which is expected to last approximately 6-10 months, depending on prior experience. This training will be conducted at the Knolls Laboratory Site.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science-related field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 2 years of experience. Alternative qualifications include CTE/ACRS with 1 year of EOOW qualification in the Nuclear Operations Program, or experience as a Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer.
Desired Experience:
- Prior experience in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience working with the US Navy Nuclear Fleet or in a nuclear-capable shipyard is advantageous.
