Project Superintendent Job Description

Wharton-Smith, Inc is seeking an experienced Project Superintendent with Water/Wastewater background for the Jackson, MS area. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the direction and daily supervision of all job site field personnel on assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain Quality: Ensure that all work meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Project Safety Management: Develop and implement safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Short-term Scheduling: Create and manage short-term schedules to ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Manpower and Equipment Resource Scheduling: Coordinate the allocation of resources to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Coordination of Permit and Regulatory Inspections: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and permits.
  • Project Set-up and Temporary Facilities: Establish and manage temporary facilities to support project operations.
  • Field Documents Control: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of project progress.
  • Daily Reports: Provide regular reports to stakeholders on project progress.
  • Progress Photographs: Document project progress through photographs.
  • Material Handling: Manage the receipt, storage, and inventory of materials.
  • Layout: Ensure that all work is done in accordance with approved layouts.
  • Subcontract Coordination: Manage subcontractors and ensure they meet project requirements.
  • Jobsite Hiring: Recruit and hire staff as needed.
  • In-place Quantity Reporting: Track and report on material quantities.
  • As-Built Drawings: Create and maintain as-built drawings.
  • Participate in Post-construction Review: Participate in post-project reviews to identify areas for improvement.
  • Field Purchases: Make purchases as needed to support project operations.
  • Material Delivery Coordination: Coordinate the delivery of materials.
  • Client and RPR Relations: Maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Time Sheets: Manage time sheets and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Small Tool Management: Manage small tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Contract Documents: Ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Jobsite Security: Ensure the security of the jobsite.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma: Required.
  • Appropriate Supervisory Experience: Required.
  • 10 Years of Water/Wastewater Project Experience: Required.
  • 10 Years of Construction-Related Experience: Required.
  • 2 Years of Experience as an Assistant Superintendent: Required.
  • Good Communication and People Skills: Required.
  • Presentation Experience: Required.
  • Computer Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel: Required.
  • Knowledge of Project Management Software (PMIS): Required.
  • Valid Driver License and Ability to Commute to Job Sites: Required.
