Structural Engineer Job Description

Rimkus Consulting is seeking a skilled Structural Engineer to join our team. As a Structural Engineer at Rimkus, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing structural systems for various projects, including restoration and rehabilitation construction efforts and structural condition assessments nationwide.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare as-built drawings from existing buildings.
  • Perform evaluations of structural systems in existing buildings, including damaged structures.
  • Create required drawings and specifications using knowledge of building codes and industry standards.
  • Research building codes and code upgrades that apply to projects.
  • Conduct field assessments, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Investigate and assess structural conditions to determine repair needs.
  • Design upgrades, maintenance, and restoration projects for existing buildings.
Requirements:
  • Minimum bachelor's degree required.
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license required, with Structural license preferred.
  • 4+ years of structural design experience.
  • AutoCAD proficiency required, with Building Information Modeling (BIM) skills a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation necessary.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of commercial and residential building structural systems and materials.
  • Ability to determine load calculations, performance criteria, and material selection.
  • Strong report writing skills and ability to develop and commit to budgets and deadlines.
  • Outgoing and able to interact with staff, clients, and property owners.
  • Ability to manage projects and teams in new and existing construction.
Physical Demands and Travel:

This position requires frequent travel to job sites, including working at heights and in confined spaces. Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. Overtime may be required to meet project demands.
