Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented MDS PPS Specialist to join our team at Owensboro Health. As a key member of our Transitional Care Unit, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely preparation, filing, and tracking of required Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) documents for all Medicare patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and submit clinical assessments and data to CMS in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Oversee the collection, entry, transmission, and analysis of clinical data to ensure compliance with Medicare Prospective Payment System requirements.
  • Provide education and training to physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals on CMS, state, and other regulatory agencies' guidelines.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) Manual and Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessment process.
  • Monitor completion of MDSs by other disciplines within prescribed time frames.
  • Perform IRF-PAI data collection and review for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
  • Assist in the development of comprehensive resident assessments and care plans.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to select the correct reason for assessment and Assessment Reference Date (ARD).
  • Monitor patient charts for correct coding and communicate with multidisciplinary teams to create and carry out patient treatment plans.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or higher in Nursing or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience in clinical data coordination or a related field.
  • RN licensure and eligibility to practice in the State of Kentucky.
