Job Title: Controls Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Technician to join our team at Greif, Inc. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, as well as excellent problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Respond to equipment downtime issues and establish resources to resolve issues quickly.
  • Train and develop plant maintenance technicians to increase their ability to understand and troubleshoot controls-related issues.
  • Debug and make PLC/Robot/HMI program changes to improve existing automated processes.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, corporate engineering, vendors, and internal customers.
  • Manage small equipment improvement projects in the plant.
  • Install, repair, upgrade, and maintain electrical/electronic equipment used in the manufacturing process.
Requirements:
  • Strong electrical mechanical and process control skill set.
  • ASS in Mechatronics or related technical programs or relative experience.
  • Ability to work on AC systems up to 480V.
  • Significant experience with process control systems, control theory, and Digital Multi-Meter testing tools.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project locations if needed.
  • Ability to read mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings.
  • High level of PLC/Robot troubleshooting (programming experience a plus) with strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and modify primarily Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs.
  • Strong teamwork capabilities, operating in a multi-function environment to collectively improve operations and resolve related issues.
  • Hands-on approach to engineering both mechanically and electrically.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills by undergoing an extensive interview process.
  • Proficient in Microsoft-based computer systems.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500, and FactoryTalk View development, PowerFlex configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, replace, and modify HMIs and VFDs.
  • Working knowledge of communication networks (Ethernet, Profinet, Profibus).
  • Physical ability to stoop, bend, climb, and work at elevations, including from lifts and ladders, as well as lift to 50 pounds.
