Position Overview


The Tax Compliance Specialist is an integral member of ICON Plc's tax team, reporting directly to the Tax Director based in Raleigh, NC.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic and dedicated team within a growing organization that boasts a strong global presence. We are looking for a collaborative team player with a proven history of success.

Key Responsibilities:


Compile and enter tax-related data, including federal M-1 calculations and state apportionment for US tax returns and provisions.

Review state tax returns and liaise with state authorities regarding various notices, assessments, and audits.

Compile foreign tax information for Canadian tax returns.

Process and document tax payments, invoices, and notices.

Maintain compliance schedules, including internal timelines and external due dates.

Assist with tax research and consulting initiatives.

Keep updated schedules for federal and state law changes.

Possess a solid understanding of fixed asset depreciation and manage fixed asset tax depreciation software.

Familiarize yourself with the Company's practices, policies, and culture.

Gain proficiency in internal software to generate various reports.

Support quarterly and yearly tax provisions involving foreign entities.

Essential Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in public accounting firms.


Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, accounting systems such as Oracle, and online tax provision software like Longview is preferred but not mandatory.

A general understanding of business taxation, compliance, and tax accounting.

Exceptional project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Ability to excel in a dynamic team environment.

Professionalism, dependability, integrity, and trustworthiness, combined with a collaborative attitude.

A highly motivated self-starter with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
