Surgical Nurse Specialist: Operating Room RN Role

Magnet Medical is seeking a skilled surgical nurse specialist to fill an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) position in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As an OR RN, you will be a vital member of the surgical team, providing high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities- Preoperative Preparation: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' medical histories and current conditions to develop tailored preoperative care plans, verifying surgical consent, reviewing medications, and preparing patients physically and emotionally for surgery.
- Intraoperative Nursing Care: Assist in setting up the operating room environment, ensuring sterile conditions and proper functioning of surgical equipment, collaborating with the surgical team to position patients, monitor vital signs, and assist with anesthesia induction and maintenance.
- Surgical Assistance and Instrumentation: Anticipate surgeons' needs during procedures, passing instruments, sutures, and supplies as required, maintaining sterile technique and adhering to aseptic practices throughout the surgical process.
- Patient Advocacy and Safety: Advocate for patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical experience, addressing concerns, and ensuring adherence to surgical protocols, monitoring patients' responses to surgical interventions, anticipating potential complications, and intervening promptly as needed.
- Postoperative Care and Monitoring: Transfer patients to post-anesthesia care units or recovery rooms, monitoring their vital signs and postoperative status, assessing surgical incisions, applying dressings, and managing drainage devices while ensuring patient comfort and pain management.
To excel in this role, you should have relevant experience as an Operating Room Registered Nurse, a strong background in surgical techniques, and excellent communication skills.
