Job Title: Library Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Library Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for a student to gain valuable work experience and develop their skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Job Summary:

The Library Assistant will provide support to the Alpine Public Library by assisting with shelving and organizing library collection materials, preparing the library facilities for program use, and checking shelves and overdue items. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and have a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities:
  • Shelve library materials and maintain a neat and organized environment
  • Assist with preparing the library facilities for program use
  • Check shelves and overdue items
  • Provide excellent customer service to library patrons
  • Perform other tasks as requested by library staff
Requirements:
  • Must be Federal Work Study eligible
  • Must have transportation
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, push library cart weight, and lift/carry 15 lbs
  • Ability to bend and stretch to reach high and low shelves
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English
  • Awareness of the purposes and functions of the public library and ability to learn routine library procedures
Work Environment:

The Library Assistant will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a team of dedicated library staff. The successful candidate will be required to work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals and objectives.
