Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Laborer to join our team at Callanan Industries, a leading supplier of paving materials and construction services in New York State. As a Maintenance Laborer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Asphalt Plant by performing a variety of laboring duties, including assisting in plant maintenance and compiling reports on production and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute a wide range of laboring duties within an Asphalt Plant, including manual labor, equipment operation, and material handling.
- Assist in plant maintenance, including performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting equipment issues, and completing repairs as needed.
- Compile reports on plant production and maintenance, including tracking production metrics, identifying areas for improvement, and providing recommendations for process enhancements.
- Operate in a safe and professional manner, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Report any accidents or incidents promptly to the supervisor, and participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Conduct daily post-inspections and complete Risk assessment forms to ensure a safe working environment.
- Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) consistently, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Cover vacations in different tasks when required, and be flexible to work nights and weekends as needed.
Requirements:
- Experience in basic mechanical maintenance, including equipment operation, repair, and maintenance.
- Demonstrated good performance, safety, and attendance records.
- Ability to work effectively with supervisors, truck drivers, and fellow employees, and communicate clearly and professionally.
- Ability to maintain compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and all other company policies or government state rules and regulations.
- Safe and professional operation of equipment, including forklifts, cranes, and other heavy machinery.
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends as required, despite the daytime shift nature.
- Valid driver's license.
Education/Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Training will be provided as needed.
