Job Title: Security Systems Specialist

Under the general supervision of the Security System Project Manager, the Security Systems Specialist will serve as the county's Security Electronic Equipment Technician II. The successful candidate will perform complex tasks related to security equipment installation and service, including access control, burglary alarm, and security camera systems, to optimize the security of employees and visitors, and the security of physical assets of the Fairfax County Government.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair access control, burglary alarm, and security camera systems.
  • Determine the extent of repair or replacement of components, devices, and methods to be utilized for all security equipment and systems.
  • Program integration of access control, alarms, and security camera systems into the county's systems.
  • Provide technical response to assist the county's Security Team as needed for special assignments.
Requirements:
  • High school graduation or a GED issued by a state department of education.
  • Completion of an apprentice-level vocational training program in electronics.
  • Two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic and electromechanical equipment specific to the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of equipment used for multiple security access control, alarm, and video surveillance systems.
  • Knowledge of Honeywell Winpak, Exacqvision, digital monitoring products, and digital security controls.
  • Knowledge of operational guidelines, protocol, and administration of all requirements of security electronic and monitoring systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair cameras, video management systems, access control systems, and intrusion detection systems.
Working Conditions:

The appointee to the position will be required to complete a criminal background check, driving record check, and pre-employment medical evaluation to the satisfaction of the employer.

The position requires the ability to walk and stand for extended periods, good dexterity, good eyesight, and the ability to differentiate colors. The appointee must be able to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The position also requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
