Job Title: EHS Explosives Specialist

Axis Energy Administration is seeking a highly skilled EHS Explosives Specialist to join our team. As an EHS Explosives Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient handling, storage, transportation, disposal, and treatment of explosives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise on explosives safety standards, practices, and procedures to minimize potential safety hazards.
  • Administer and evaluate an explosives safety program to oversee the safe and efficient handling, storage, transportation, disposal, and treatment of explosives.
  • Facilitate safety meetings or training classes to stay apprised of accident trends or regulatory changes.
  • Investigate explosive accident causes to assess the potential for recurrence and recommend corrective methods for prevention.
  • Guide other personnel and exchange information on new developments and obtain technical opinions to resolve explosives or ordnance safety and health problems.
  • Write formal reports to identify and report deficiencies within the explosive's safety program.
  • Provide liaison between the company and Federal & State Regulatory Agencies.
  • Coordinate and facilitate preparation for Federal and State regulatory compliance audits and is a point of contact for inquiries, issues, and audits related to regulations.
  • Extensive interaction and effective communication with regulatory agency personnel and internal customers complete regulatory requirements while developing and maintaining positive relationships.
  • Progressive development and a comprehensive understanding of regulations impacting the company, and the ability to summarize and provide internal guidance of such regulations.
  • Maintain a proficient knowledge of current federal and state pipeline safety regulations.
  • Interpret regulations and provide training to company personnel to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.
  • Develop and assist in maintaining Company Standard Operating Procedures and other Compliance programs.
Requirements:
  • 5-7+ years' experience in explosives compliance accompanied by deep understanding of explosives handling, storage, transportation, disposal, and treatment of explosives.
  • Advanced understanding of and experience with explosives and energetic materials EH&S, licensing, and compliance; experience with ATF and OSHA.
  • Experience with developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), conducting audits, and advising on best practices related to logistics, compliance, and safe handling of explosives.
  • Professional integrity, confidentiality and sense of responsibility and accountability.
  • Highly organized and efficient worker; skilled at multi-tasking.
  • Effective communication skills - verbal and written; attentive listener.
  • Willing to take initiative and work independently.
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers, visitors, vendors, and other employees.
  • Ability to clear eligibility on Axis pre-employment requirements.
  • Receipt of proof of eligibility to work in the United States, as required by law.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to various operations locations.
