Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Seasonal Cashier to join our team at Northgate Markets. As a Seasonal Cashier, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, operating a cash register, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide fast and friendly service to customers, answering questions and resolving issues in a professional manner
  • Operate a cash register, handling cash, credit card transactions, and other forms of payment
  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including the checkout area and surrounding areas
  • Assist customers with bulk products and other items as needed
  • Process sales transactions, including handling returns and exchanges
  • Verify customer IDs and observe store policies regarding check acceptance and sales of alcoholic beverages
  • Notify management of any irregularities or discrepancies in operating results

Requirements and Conditions:

  • High school education preferred, with successful completion of an apprenticeship or training program
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, including discounts, gross margins, and percentages
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret English language documents, including company handbooks and policies
  • Ability to pass a standard drug test and qualify as being drug-free under the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988

Physical Demands and Work Conditions:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls
  • Occasionally exert or lift up to 50 pounds, carrying boxes of records and forms
  • Successful performance requires specific vision abilities, including close vision and ability to adjust focus
