About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Grocery Department Leader to join our team at Kroger. As a key member of our grocery department, you will be responsible for assisting the Department Manager in planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Department Manager in planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the grocery department.
  • Perform production and customer service functions to maximize store sales and profits.
  • Ensure that customers are consistently provided with prompt and courteous service.
  • Use Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO) to manage ordering and inventory.
  • Perform and direct others in pricing and displaying of merchandise.
  • Engage associates in effective merchandising techniques and customer service.
  • Follow company policies and procedures, including dress code, grooming, and sanitation.
  • Provide input on department budgets, goals, and results.
  • Communicate and interact with associates and customers to provide a positive impression.
Requirements
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly.
  • Able to tactfully handle stressful situations.
  • Possess skills for effective production, merchandising, and customer service.
  • Understanding of department operations, including managing people, merchandising, and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Grocery retail work experience and/or backup manager experience.
  • Past work record reflects dependability and integrity.
  • Ability to engage associates in effective merchandising techniques and customer service.
  • Ability to follow company policies and procedures.
