Position Overview

The role involves providing instruction in gymnastics to individuals of all ages and skill levels within the Performing Arts department. The instructor will create educational programs and showcase proper techniques and styles to participants at various proficiency levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver instruction based on sound gymnastics principles.
  • Teach a diverse range of learners, from beginners to advanced students.
  • Effectively communicate and engage with both small and large groups with confidence and enthusiasm.
  • Offer personalized guidance for skill development in gymnastics.
  • Evaluate and provide constructive feedback on participants' performance.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a secure environment for all class members.
  • Report any safety concerns regarding facilities to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Document accidents and incidents accurately and promptly, notifying relevant personnel of any unsafe conditions.
  • Comply with The Salvation Army's Policies and Procedures.
  • Create a safe, enjoyable, and engaging learning atmosphere for all participants.
  • Maintain open communication with the direct supervisor regarding scheduling and coaching matters.
  • Exhibit professionalism in interactions with children, patrons, staff, and management.
  • Arrive on time and fully prepared to conduct classes.
  • Promote fairness and equality among all participants.
  • Effectively communicate any changes in class structure to all participants.
  • Adhere to all Safe From Harm Policies and Procedures as set forth by The Salvation Army.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Working Environment

The position requires the ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Candidates should be able to lift up to 10 lbs and perform tasks such as reaching overhead and operating office equipment.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in teaching or working in the specified instructional area.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English is essential.
Skills and Competencies
  • Familiarity with Salvation Army programs and activities is preferred.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and approach to problem-solving.
  • Demonstrate a variety of skills in the specified instructional area.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
