Nurse Care Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a Nurse Care Specialist. This role will be responsible for providing professional nursing care to transplant patients, advancing the clinical mission and goals of the Department through collaborative relationships within the Medical Center.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessment, teaching, discharge planning, and telephone triage in inpatient/outpatient clinical settings.
- Greet patients, prepare them for physician evaluations, screen them for appropriate information, and instruct them on collecting samples and completing tests.
- Facilitate the evaluation of pre and post-transplant patients by interfacing with referring physicians, hepatologists, nephrologists, surgeons, scheduling coordinators, consultants, insurance coordinators, and social workers.
- Coordinate the complex management and education of patients pre and post-transplant, communicate with UNOS, and maintain an accurate patient waiting list.
- Observe, record, and report patient conditions and reactions to drugs and treatments, dispense medication as directed, and administer prescribed medications, treatments, and procedures according to nursing standards.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree from an accredited School of Nursing required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- 3-4 years of professional nursing experience required; 1-2 years of previous transplant, outpatient, or dialysis experience preferred.
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the District of Columbia required; CPR certification within 90 days required.
Salary and Benefits
This is a full-time position with a hiring range of $87,318 - $149,094. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plan, paid time off, and more.
