As a Yard Driver, you will be responsible for maneuvering company commercial vehicles within designated non-highway areas, including backing trailers to loading docks. You may also shuttle vehicles to and from logistics partners.
Work Schedule: 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM
Work Days: Alternating weeks: Monday to Friday and Sunday to Thursday
Key DutiesTractor/Trailer Operations
- Inspect the yard for vehicle issues and document findings in the DVCR booklet, reporting maintenance needs to the D&S Team Leaders daily.
- Gather tractor/trailer data from D&S, including odometer readings and engine hours, and communicate with leasing companies weekly.
- Ensure that trailers carrying temperature-sensitive products are maintained at proper temperatures.
- Coordinate with Warehouse Team Members to ensure timely loading and unloading of trailers.
- Assist in unloading trailers as needed.
- Reposition vehicles within the yard and to/from docks as required.
- Adhere to safety protocols including the use of chocks, cones, and dock signal lights.
- Transport trailers to cleaning facilities.
- Support backhaul operations.
- Occasionally assist drivers on designated routes for product deliveries.
- Respond promptly to management and driver requests.
- Maintain uniform standards as per company policy.
- Participate in scheduled safety meetings and training sessions.
- Follow all safety regulations and company policies.
- Attend instructional sessions on safety and operational procedures as directed by the Delivery and Service Team Leader.
- Keep DVIR records up to date.
- Comply with DOT logging requirements.
- Be accountable for vehicle and product integrity.
- Utilize timekeeping and People Net systems for clocking in and out.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- At least six months of verified commercial motor vehicle driving experience; one year preferred.
- Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brake endorsement.
- Maintain a valid DOT Medical Certification.
- Meet Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) standards consistently.
- Pass a background check every three years on your anniversary date.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with short notice as needed.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs occasionally.
- Capability to perform heavy pushing and pulling of products, work in refrigerated environments, and endure various outdoor weather conditions.
- Ability to work in environments with exposure to loud machinery when necessary.
Compensation: $21.90 per hour
