The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) plays a crucial role in delivering anesthesia care during various medical procedures as part of a collaborative healthcare team under the guidance of an anesthesiologist.
In this position, the CRNA is responsible for conducting thorough patient evaluations, maintaining effective communication with the healthcare team, utilizing resources wisely to ensure the highest standard of care, and meticulously documenting all aspects of patient care.
The CRNA administers general and regional anesthetics, as well as Monitored Anesthesia Care, during surgical and obstetric procedures, all while adhering to the medical direction provided by the supervising anesthesiologist.
Key responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, advising the attending anesthesiologist on suitable anesthetic options, and proposing administration techniques and necessary supportive measures, in accordance with departmental protocols.
Additional duties involve checking anesthesia equipment, monitoring supplies, medications, and gases, as well as tracking and recording vital signs and any administered medications along with the patient's reactions.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Required)
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year in critical care nursing as part of CRNA program completion (Required)
- 2 years in an academic medical center or as a CRNA (Preferred)
Licenses/Certifications:
- PA Registered Nurse License (Required)
- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (Required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (Required)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification (Required)
