Housekeeping Support Staff

The Direct Support Staff position at Advocates is a vital role where you can start your career in human services and support individuals with developmental disabilities.
You will provide ongoing support, guidance, and role modeling directly to individuals living in a residential setting, ensuring their home is welcoming, comfortable, and safe.
Responsibilities include administering and managing medication, following Individual Support Plans (ISPs), transporting individuals to appointments when needed, and completing shift notes.
You will also support individuals to access the community by doing things such as group activities, taking trips to events, and volunteering.
Additional Shift Details:
- Saturday 8:30am-4:30pm
Key responsibilities include:
- Following agency policies and procedures
- Interacting verbally in a professional manner with individuals supported, families, coworkers, supervisors, and community members
- Demonstrating the ability to set aside personal prejudices and fears to support individual(s) in taking risks and making informed decisions
- Identifying local community resources and ensuring individual(s) access to needed local resources on a consistent basis
- Promoting teamwork and open communication among staff members and individuals supported by the program
- Respecting self, coworkers, and the individuals supported
- Prioritizing and planning work activities, using time efficiently, and developing realistic action plans
- Demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness and monitoring own work to ensure quality
- Being consistently at work and on time, following instructions, responding to management direction, and soliciting feedback to improve performance
- Actively promoting and personally observing safety and security procedures and using equipment and materials properly
One year of experience in developmental services/behavioral health area is preferred.
