We are seeking a skilled Medical Office LPN to join our team at Eastern Connecticut Health Network. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct and indirect professional nursing care to patients following established standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate Patient Care: Assist providers and staff in the coordination of patient care, ensuring seamless transitions and effective communication.
  • Primary Liaison: Function as the primary liaison between providers and physicians, facilitating collaboration and ensuring accurate information exchange.
  • Nursing Care: Provide general nursing care to patients, including administering prescribed medications, vaccinations, and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Equipment Preparation: Prepare equipment and aids for physicians during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
  • Observation and Reporting: Observe, report, and record patients' condition and reactions to medications and treatments.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients and families regarding diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to and/or anticipate emergency situations in a calm, efficient manner.
  • Documentation: Document all sample medication dispensed in the medical record.
  • Inventory Management: Keep inventory of medical supplies and report to the Office Coordinator/Practice Manager for reorder.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Report malfunction of medical equipment to the Office Coordinator/Practice Manager.
  • Office Surgical Procedures: Assist physician/practitioner with office surgical procedures.
  • Specimen Preparation: Prepare specimens and paperwork to submit to reference lab for testing as directed by physician or midlevel.
  • Phone Calls: Respond to incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.
  • Medication Instructions: Instruct patients and families regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Vaccine Program: Oversee vaccine program following State guidelines.
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain/review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
  • Work Area Maintenance: Maintain work area in a neat and organized manner.
  • Compliance: Maintain appropriate documentation of compliance with CLIA regulations.
  • Collaboration: Participate in Patient Centered Medical Home Care Team collaborations.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
Requirements:
  • LPN Program: Graduate of an accredited LPN Program.
  • Licensure: Current licensure in the state of Connecticut.
  • Clinical Competency: Maintains clinical competency required for area of assignment, including Basic Cardiac Life Support.
  • Computer Skills: Experience with computer scheduling systems preferred (e.g. Meditech and Ntierprise).
  • Medical Experience: 1 year experience working in a medical facility.
  • Communication Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English - both verbally and in writing.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.
  • Work Environment: Comfortable in a fast-paced, confidential medical environment.
  • Teamwork: Team-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Nursing Knowledge: Knowledge of professional nursing theory, regulations, and practices.
  • Physical Ability: Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to maintain working relationships and interact with patients and employees on a daily basis.
  • Reliability: Reliable transportation and ability to float to other offices as needed.
