Medical Assistant with Patient-Centered Approach

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is an entity within the MUSC Community Physicians (MCP), providing healthcare to patients throughout rural South Carolina.
Job OverviewThis position supports a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care, working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Certified Medical Assistant performs multi-skilled activities to achieve desired outcomes and assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
Job DescriptionKey responsibilities include:
- Interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, and recording information to patients' medical records
- Preparing treatment rooms for examination of patients
- Assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician
To be successful in this role, candidates must have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred
- Certification through the American Medical Technologist (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Health career Association (NHA), MedCA, or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider
The estimated annual salary for this position is $43,000 - $55,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits may include health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
