Our team of passionate and innovative clinicians is dedicated to providing exceptional care to patients with stroke, seizures, encephalopathy, headaches, migraines, meningitis, and other neurologically unstable conditions.

Unit Details

We are a 19-bed inpatient acute care unit with a highly skilled and engaged team of clinicians. Our unit provides care to patients with a range of medical diagnoses, including diabetes ketoacidosis, hypertensive crisis, pulmonary embolism, and failure-to-thrive. Our clinicians are trained to provide patient and family education, and often serve as advocates for patients and families through partnership and collaboration with related interdisciplinary professionals.

A significant percentage of our nurses hold certifications such as SCRN (Stroke certification), RN-BC or CMSRN (Medical-Surgical certification), and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - FNP. We are proud to be recognized as the first unit to successfully welcome LPNs in an acute care setting at Emory.

Unit Stats

  • Average Daily Census: 16
  • Average Length of Stay: 5-7 days
  • Patient to RN Ratio: 1 to 4-5
  • Patient to RN-LPN ratio: 1 to 7
  • Patient to PCT Ratio: 1 to 9-10

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • 12 months of recent nursing experience within the past five years or recent completion of a re-entry nursing program
  • Valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board
  • BLS certification required and ACLS may be required in designated departments
