About the Position
North Marin Water District is seeking a highly skilled Junior Engineer to join our team in the Engineering Department. As a Junior Engineer, you will be responsible for performing a wide variety of entry-level technical engineering work, including designing and drafting water and sewer facilities, preparing construction estimates, and inspecting construction project work.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and draft water and sewer facilities, including transmission and distribution systems, storage tanks, pump stations, treatment plants, and facilities
- Prepare detailed construction estimates, material requisitions, and master plans for water and sewer facilities
- Inspect and/or supervise construction project work as required
- Prepare cost and budgetary estimates on projects
- Track costs and budgets of assigned projects
- Respond to and follow through on customer service calls
- Draft new standards and specifications as required
- Conduct reviews and respond to engineering studies, including CEQA and NEPA reports
- Prepare material and construction contract packages and proposals, and prepare RFPs
- Conduct water supply and sewage collection/treatment/disposal feasibility studies and master planning
- Participate in a variety of professional committees
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering
- California Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate
- Knowledge of principles, methods, materials, and equipment used in engineering design, drafting, and inspecting
- Ability to apply general engineering principles to the solution of specific engineering problems
- Ability to use job-related computer software
- Ability to write memos, letters, and technical reports that are clear and concise
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical persons
