Position Details
The Physician Assistant will be responsible for a standard schedule of 80 hours over a two-week period, primarily during daytime hours with no weekend shifts. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the operating room and endoscopy procedures as required.
- Providing care in the outpatient clinic, including patient evaluations.
- Performing robotic surgery docking and undocking for colorectal procedures as necessary.
- Educating and managing care for patients with colostomy and ileostomy.
- Supporting office procedures for outpatient anorectal conditions.
- Instructing patients on pre-operative care to prevent surgical site infections.
- Guiding patients through bowel preparation and anticoagulation management for outpatient procedures.
- Rounding on inpatients with colorectal conditions.
- Collaborating with the GI team for IBD patient care.
- Conducting screenings for HIV and HPV using high-resolution anoscopy.
- Following up on diagnostic results for colorectal cancer patients.
Qualifications
- Certification and licensure as a Physician Assistant.
- Current registration in New York State.
- Valid certification from the NCCPA.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- ACLS and BLS certification required.
