Job Summary

The County of Mendocino, CA is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Corrections Deputy to join our team. As a Corrections Deputy, you will be responsible for maintaining facility security, ensuring the welfare of incarcerated persons, and overseeing various aspects of correctional facility operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facility Security: Maintain facility security and ensure the safety of incarcerated persons, staff, and visitors.
  • Incident Response: Respond to incidents and emergencies within the facility, including medical emergencies and security breaches.
  • Booking and Processing: Book and process arrested persons, including fingerprinting, photographing, and classifying.
  • Transportation: Transport arrested persons and incarcerated individuals to and from various locations.
  • Property Management: Receive, maintain, and account for personal property of incarcerated persons.
  • Reporting and Record-Keeping: Prepare and maintain accurate records, logs, and reports related to facility operations and incidents.
  • Training and Development: Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge in correctional facility operations.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Prior experience in law enforcement, corrections, or a related field preferred.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license and completion of introductory training in California Penal Code 832 required.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of correctional facility operations, laws, and regulations; ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.
Working Conditions

The Corrections Deputy will work in a fast-paced correctional facility environment, interacting with incarcerated persons, staff, and visitors. The position requires the ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
