Position Overview:

The Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional physical therapy services that enhance the Physical Therapist's efforts in providing top-notch patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement treatment strategies as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Monitor and document patient progress during therapy sessions.
  • Compile and communicate patient responses to treatments through verbal and written reports to the Physical Therapist.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and universal precautions at all times.
  • Assist in the preparation of departmental quality assurance reports and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records, including progress notes and logs.
  • Oversee the activities of Physical Therapy Aides and/or Rehabilitation Technicians.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as inventory management, answering calls, and relaying messages.
  • Ensure proper utilization and upkeep of therapy equipment and supplies.
  • Prepare necessary supplies for therapy sessions.
  • Sanitize examination tables and pillows after each patient interaction.
  • Keep the clinical environment organized and clean.
  • Conduct daily maintenance of the therapeutic pool, including chemical management and cleanliness.
  • Uphold patient and company confidentiality consistently.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills for mechanical and maintenance issues.
  • Exhibit a high level of motivation and the ability to work autonomously.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Contribute innovative ideas for enhancing departmental processes and environments.
  • Develop and maintain policies in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital and clinic regulations in policy creation.

Work Environment:

This role requires adaptability to various settings, including medical offices, rehabilitation facilities, acute care environments, and outdoor locations. There may be exposure to hazardous materials, blood, and bodily fluids. The position involves regular interaction with colleagues, patients, vendors, and the public, including individuals who may be distressed or unwell.

Physical Demands:

This position is physically active, requiring frequent walking, bending, stooping, crawling, squatting, and lifting weights up to 75 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds. It may involve extended periods of sitting or standing. Candidates must possess visual acuity and manual dexterity for computer and equipment operation, as well as auditory acuity for effective communication with patients and the public.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assistance.
  • Current CPR Certification (Level III).
  • Valid Kansas State License.
  • Completion of a 40-hour on-the-job training program with successful evaluation.
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Integrity and honesty.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • Professional communication skills with colleagues, vendors, and patients.
  • Punctuality and reliability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in orthopedics.
  • Prior experience in a medical office setting.
  • Familiarity with clinical computer applications and training.

Work Schedule:

The work schedule is flexible and determined by the needs of the Physical Therapists and patient volume. Lunch breaks are scheduled for a minimum of 30 minutes and a maximum of 60 minutes, based on patient demands.
