Inventory Management Specialist

Inova Northern Virginia Surgery Center seeks a skilled Materials Manager/Consultant to support the facility's operational excellence. This temporary role requires extensive knowledge and experience in inventory management, with a preference for candidates with a background as an OR nurse.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe ideal candidate will oversee the entire inventory lifecycle, from procurement and receiving to storage and distribution of supplies and equipment. This role involves collaborating cross-functionally with clinical and nursing staff, Biomedical Engineering, Accounts Payable, Infection Control, and Administration to drive quality improvement, cost savings, and operational efficiency.
- Procurement & Inventory Management: Responsible for managing the end-to-end inventory process, ensuring timely delivery of supplies and equipment.
- Receiving & Distribution: Ensures accurate receipt and distribution of inventory, maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
- Administrative Support: Provides administrative support to the healthcare team, ensuring seamless operations and effective communication.
- Quality & Performance Improvement: Identifies opportunities for improvement and implements strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve patient care.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A minimum of two (2) years' experience in a healthcare facility, with basic knowledge of medical supplies and purchasing systems.
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Advanced organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in computer systems, including inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with EDI (Electronic Data Interface) processes for supply chain management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Knowledge of compliance standards for ASC operations, including OSHA, AAAHC, and The Joint Commission requirements.
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
We estimate the annual salary for this role to be between $62,000 and $75,000, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for professional growth.
