Position Overview

The Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University, is actively seeking a board-certified or board-eligible faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to fulfill the role of a General Pediatrician. This role encompasses outpatient clinical responsibilities at Palmetto Pediatrics, alongside academic and teaching duties within the Medical College of Georgia and the Pediatrics Department. This position is not on a tenure track.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties - 90%
  • Achieve board certification by the third year or maintain current board certification in Pediatrics.
  • Deliver high-quality, comprehensive pediatric care aimed at enhancing quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.
  • Engage in assigned clinical responsibilities with fellow faculty members, including outpatient services and on-call duties related to pediatric care.
  • Fulfill all metrics associated with Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE), including participation in quality meetings, proper documentation management, and completion of online compliance training.
  • Increase productivity through clinical services in General Pediatrics at our outpatient clinic.
  • Meet and uphold wRVU productivity targets as established by the department chair and MCG Dean's Office, currently set at the 65th percentile for General Pediatrics.
  • Foster professional relationships and referral patterns with physicians both within and outside Augusta University.
  • Provide timely feedback to referring physicians.

Teaching Responsibilities - 10%
  • Deliver education and training to residents, medical students, and staff in pediatrics, including clinical supervision and didactic sessions.
  • Maintain teaching evaluation scores at or above the departmental average.
  • Attend at least 50% of weekly pediatric Grand Rounds and monthly faculty meetings.


Qualifications

Applicants must possess a medical degree from an accredited institution and be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatrics. Eligibility for a State of Georgia Medical License and a State of South Carolina medical license is required, along with federal DEA registration for both states and a DHEC certificate for South Carolina. Strong oral and written communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal abilities, are essential.

Rank-Specific Requirements
  • Assistant Professor: Early career faculty member with relevant postgraduate training.
  • Associate Professor: Mid-career faculty member with a minimum of five years at the Assistant Professor rank or equivalent experience.
  • Professor: Senior faculty member with at least five years at the Associate Professor rank or comparable experience.


Compensation and Benefits

This position is fiscal year-based and operates year-round. The full-time equivalent (FTE) for this role is 1.0, classifying it as full-time. Salaries and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and accomplishments, subject to fund availability. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and more. Additionally, employees with over six months of service may qualify for the Tuition Assistance Program.
