Pheasants Forever is seeking a skilled Wetland Ecosystem Specialist to join our team in Minnesota. As a key member of our restoration team, you will play a vital role in promoting and growing the Nation's leading upland wildlife habitat conservation organization.

About the Role

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse stakeholders, including local communities, landowners, and government agencies, to develop and implement effective conservation strategies.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and implement restoration projects that advance strategic goals. Experience in wetland ecology, conservation biology, or a related field is highly desirable.

Responsibilities
  1. Identify and evaluate conservation easement acquisition opportunities within the Windom and Fergus Falls Wetland Management Districts (WMD).
  2. Collaborate with the PF State Coordinator, PF Restoration Manager, and Fergus Falls and Windom WMD to develop and manage restoration and enhancement projects.
  3. Support Realty functions associated with securing conservation easements.
  4. Coordinate day-to-day operations related to easement restoration projects, including planning, design, permitting, installation, and monitoring of contractor's projects.
  5. Assist in tracking budgets, preparing timely deliverables, and arranging staff and partner support for contract-funded habitat restoration and enhancement projects.
  6. Provide timely updates and reporting on project progress.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in environmental science, ecology, conservation biology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years' experience working in restoration ecology or natural resource management, with a demonstrated understanding of scientific methods.
  • Experience in wetland restoration, including surveying, restoration design, permit writing, and construction oversight.
  • Familiarity with habitat management tools and techniques, including GIS analysis and data interpretation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Project management experience, including budget tracking, reporting, and coordination of effective work teams.
Benefits
