Air Base Security Guard-Part Time

This is a part-time security guard position for an air base in New York. The successful candidate will provide security and related services to personnel and resources at the base.
Key Responsibilities- Enforce standards of conduct and adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and procedures within the Air National Guard Area of Responsibility (AOR).
- Patrol flight line aircraft and other federal equipment to deter criminal activity and detect fires or other dangerous situations.
- Perform inspections of weapons and ammunition vaults, doors, and other portals to ensure they are properly locked and secured.
- Question suspicious persons to ascertain the legitimacy of their presence in the area and detain unauthorized persons within jurisdictional limits until proper authorities arrive.
- Control entry and exit of military and civilian personnel, contractors, and the general public, including all vehicles and other equipment.
- Perform traffic control duties, respond to incidents, accidents, and other calls to assist personnel, secure the scene, investigate circumstances, and complete required reports.
- Maintain radio contact with Base Defense Operations Center (BDOC) personnel at all times.
- Monitor alarm equipment and emergency response systems and initiate appropriate response forces when applicable.
- Provide other services necessary to secure location resources and personnel.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or with other individuals in a team/group setting.
- Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry heavy objects and equipment (50+ lbs).
- Ability to work outside in various temperatures and inclement weather for extended periods of time.
- Incumbents of this position are considered essential personnel.
- Must be eligible to obtain a permit to carry a handgun in New York State (NYS).
- Must meet mission-specific weapons qualification requirements.
- Must meet and maintain physical fitness and agility standards established in accordance with Agency and NGB policy requirements.
- Must meet the medical screening requirements to include drug testing, as established in accordance with Agency and NGB policy requirements.
- Must meet and maintain all mission-specific proficiency training requirements to include, but not limited to, Use of Force, Rules of Engagement, and Search/Handcuffing; including annual evaluations.
- Must be eligible to be designated as a Peace Officer; training may be required.
This is a part-time position that requires working outside in various temperatures and inclement weather for extended periods of time. The successful candidate must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry heavy objects and equipment (50+ lbs).
BenefitsThis position offers a part-time salary based on 50% of full-time salary and requires 20 hours of work per week. The successful candidate will be afforded a length of time equal to that of the required probationary period in which to obtain a permit to carry a handgun in New York State (NYS).
