Welding Technician Apprentice - 1st Shift Work Schedule:

The Welding Technician Apprentice will be tasked with the local delivery and execution of fit-up, fabrication, and core welding to vendors and managers in alignment with Johnson Controls principles, corporate policies, and operational procedures. This role encompasses a variety of functions aimed at enhancing employee engagement, safety, health, productivity, and ensuring compliance with company policies in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• The Welding Technician Apprentice will leverage a minimum of 6 months of MIG welding experience in product application.

• Operate Miller Aluma Pro Mig gun effectively to apply fit-up, fabrication, and welding disciplines into standard models.

• Utilize manual and semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using techniques such as GMAW and Plasma Cutting.

• Operate manual and semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.

• Uphold safe work practices.

• Conduct technical inspections.

• Prepare inputs for various management and log reports.

• Interpret and review blueprints and specifications to ensure functionality as designed in the intended environment.

• Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.

• Maintain detailed and accurate reports and documentation.

• Stay informed on changes in technology, compliance, and repair/rework techniques.

• Complete motor coupling installations.

• Participate in training programs as a trainee or trainer as required.

• Promote and practice 5S throughout the facility.

• Engage in kaizen events.

• Undertake other assigned tasks as necessary.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of 2G plate welding test and 6G short arc pipe welding test within Johnson Controls - San Antonio.

• Proficient in the use of various hand tools, machinery, and equipment necessary for metal fabrication.

• Familiarity with standard blueprint reading.

• Collaborate with supervisors and lead personnel to ensure continuous improvements in work cells, meeting quotas, and adhering to pre-set welding parameters using GMAW processes.

• Ability to accurately scan in and out of work orders is essential.

• Strong knowledge and skill in operating all metalworking machinery is required.

• Capability to read and comprehend production drawings, blueprints, work orders, and other written instructions.

Required Skills
