Job Overview

Position Summary: The Imaging Technologist is responsible for conducting a range of imaging procedures in accordance with established protocols and guidelines, typically under general supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides clear explanations and instructions to patients to ensure their comfort and confidence, addressing individual needs effectively.
  • Operates and maintains all imaging equipment within the department, including but not limited to x-ray machines.
  • Positions patients appropriately and utilizes radiologic equipment to obtain the necessary images as requested by physicians.
  • Conducts all imaging examinations as per established protocols, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and promptly notifying the attending physician of results.
  • Engages in quality assurance activities and adheres to radiation safety practices to minimize exposure for patients, staff, and self.
  • Keeps accurate records, documentation, and logs in both paper and electronic formats.
  • Ensures a sufficient supply of consumables is available for quality testing.
  • Performs routine maintenance and function checks on all imaging equipment according to established procedures.
  • Undertakes additional related responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited radiology technology program.
  • Certification in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree in radiology.
