Job Summary

The Environmental Services Worker II is responsible for maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff at University Hospitals. This role involves performing various cleaning and sanitation tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming hallways, stairs, and office spaces. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform cleaning and sanitation tasks in an effective and efficient manner, adhering to quality standards.
  • Keep cleaning carts, equipment, and storage areas clean and organized.
  • Provide positive verbal and non-verbal interactions with patients, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Assist individuals as needed or find the appropriate person to provide assistance.
  • Use cleaning chemicals safely and according to manufacturer standards.
  • Clean offices, patient/resident rooms, classrooms, common areas, restrooms, halls, food service areas, and other areas as needed.
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum hallways, stairs, and office spaces.
  • Clean light fixtures, ceilings, vents, walls, mattresses, furniture, windows, and window coverings.
  • Empty trash and garbage containers and transport waste to the outside compactor.
  • Replenish supplies and materials.
  • Move furniture and set up tables and chairs.
  • Notify leaders about any maintenance repairs or additions needed.
  • Comply with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Report accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
  • Apply OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work.
  • Attend required training programs and complete assigned training within the allotted time.
  • Transport and package regulated medical waste and chemo waste.
  • Change cubicle curtains and shower curtains.
Requirements
  • High School Equivalent/GED preferred.
  • 1+ years of cleaning experience preferred.
  • Experience in a hospital setting preferred.
