Job Summary

Tulsa Community College is seeking a qualified Adjunct Faculty member to join our team. As a catalyst in the learning process, you will present course content in an organized and motivating way, keeping current in the chosen field of study and responding to students as distinct individuals with varied interests, needs, and abilities.

Responsibilities
  • Teach in a professional manner that promotes general education and discipline goals as defined by the College.
  • Maintain the principle of academic freedom, as defined by the American Association of University Professors, in highest regard and practice.
  • Maintain high academic standards.
  • Exhibit competence and knowledge in the discipline.
  • Teach in a manner that fosters and promotes the Institutional Learning Outcomes as defined by the College.
  • Show application of subject to related disciplines.
  • Offer well-planned, organized instruction to maximize student learning and student retention.
  • Use teaching strategies appropriate to the discipline and in coordination with department guidelines.
  • Choose among available and appropriate instructional technologies.
  • Employ fair and discipline-appropriate evaluation techniques to measure student achievement.
  • Return evaluated student work in a timely fashion appropriate to the discipline.
  • Meet each class as scheduled by the College, begin and end classes on time as scheduled by the College, and report any exceptions to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Contribute to discipline and/or program curriculum development as requested.
Professional Development
  • Remain current in discipline, both contextually and technologically.
  • Participate in required professional development activities contributing to the educational goals of the College.
  • Complete mandatory College compliance training.
General and Administrative
  • Meet all requirements for adjunct faculty members as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Faculty Handbook.
  • Use the TCC Syllabus Template and/or other discipline guidelines to develop a clear, unambiguous syllabus with well-articulated learning outcomes as determined by full-time faculty in the discipline.
  • Maintain accurate scholastic records.
  • Submit grade records and final grade reports to designated administrative office(s) according to institutional guidelines and within stated deadlines.
  • Keep all student information confidential and secure in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Attend meetings and events as required by College administration, including training and orientation for new adjuncts.
  • Make timely responses to information requests from appropriate College administrators.
  • Respond to student requests in a timely manner.
  • Participate in TCC's assessment program.
  • If requested, contribute to College development, planning, and budgeting processes through appropriate institutional channels.
Minimum Qualifications

University Parallel:

  • Master's degree in the discipline or subfield in which an individual is teaching, or
  • Master's degree and a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the discipline or subfield in which an individual is teaching.

Developmental Education:

  • Appropriate credentials for faculty teaching in developmental education areas are determined by discipline.

Technical/Occupational (Workforce Development):

  • The same as those listed for university parallel, or
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, appropriate state and/or national licensure or certification in the discipline or subfield in which he or she is teaching, and three years of work experience in the field.
