Job Title: Audiovisual Technician

Seattle Art Museum is seeking a skilled Audiovisual Technician to join our team. As an Audiovisual Technician, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting audiovisual equipment for events, lectures, and performances at our museum locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate audiovisual equipment in projection booths for lectures, conferences, and performances.
  • Set up, operate, and strike audiovisual equipment in event spaces for live music, weddings, meetings, social functions, presentations, and corporate events.
  • Record events, presentations, and lectures as needed in Auditorium spaces.
  • Operate and troubleshoot video switching systems using multiple screens/projectors.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of experience in live event AV in a corporate or hospitality setting.
  • CTS certification, Associates AV Degree, or equivalent experience in projection, video switching, live sound reinforcement, and computing.
  • Digital and Analogue AV systems and signal processing knowledge required.
  • Strong customer service skills with an ability to be flexible in accommodating last-minute changes or requests.
  • Understanding of signal flow and proficiency in troubleshooting basic and complex AV systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft and Apple software and operating systems; PowerPoint, Keynote, Zoom, Streaming Services, etc.
  • Capable of multitasking with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to handle stress and pressure associated with high-visibility major events.
  • Ability to work with close attention to detail and to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Physically capable of handling job requirements (bending, stooping, heavy lifting; 50+ pounds).
  • Work shifts will include nights, holidays, and weekends. Must be able to commit to shifts once accepted.
  • Ability to adhere to Museum policies and support management decisions in a positive and professional manner.
Working Conditions:

Work areas are primarily inside, in a climate-controlled environment with light background noise. Work is occasionally performed at other indoor and outdoor sites.

Physical Activities Required for Essential Functions:
  • Stationary Work: Approximately 40% of time is spent stationary while working at a desk or operating audio/lighting consoles.
  • Communication: Clear and effective communication with volunteers, donors, members, the public, and co-workers is necessary.
  • Moving: The ability to move up to fifty pounds is necessary for moving speakers, AV equipment, and supplies.
  • Office Work: Ability to effectively and regularly operate a computer, keyboard, and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machines and printers, and ability to inspect, prepare and use paperwork, files, equipment, and supplies is necessary.
