Responsibilities
The Operating Room Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
This role involves directing and coordinating nursing care for critically ill patients in accordance with established clinical nursing practice standards.
The Registered Nurse acts as a professional caregiver, assuming responsibility and accountability for a designated group of patients during a specified timeframe.
Direct patient care is provided through the nursing process, environmental management, and collaboration with other healthcare team members.
The RN will plan, execute, document, and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development norms for patients across all age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
They will also ensure the safety of patients by utilizing age-appropriate equipment and advocating for their well-being.
Infection control precautions will be initiated and documented consistently, and the RN will educate patients and families on these guidelines.
Patient status will be assessed, reassessed, and documented in accordance with policy, including admission and discharge documentation.
Nursing care will be planned, implemented, and documented based on the patient's individual needs, condition, and cultural background.
The RN will collaborate with case management and physicians throughout the continuum of care, delegating appropriately to maximize quality and resource utilization.
Confidentiality will be maintained for all patient information, and departmental standards and competencies will be met as evidenced by documentation.
The employee is expected to report to work punctually and adhere to the attendance policy, working independently with minimal supervision while following facility policies and procedures.
Compliance with safety policies and procedures is essential, as is maintaining professional relationships with coworkers, physicians, and patients.
Demonstrating high-level critical thinking and independent decision-making skills is crucial, as is the ability to provide comprehensive care for high-acuity patients using the nursing process.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
A graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Current certification in BLS and ACLS is required.
A valid Oklahoma License as a Registered Nurse is mandatory.
Preferred Job Requirements:
CNOR certification is preferred. Candidates should ideally have at least one year of experience as an RN, particularly in the relevant specialty.
