Job Summary

AvaMed Workforce is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to provide mental health services to inmates at a correctional facility in Chowchilla, CA.


Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with supervisors and treatment team members to develop and implement treatment plans for inmates.
  • Document all care provided to inmates, including face-to-face contacts and Interdisciplinary Treatment Team meetings.
  • Monitor inmate progress using CDCR Mental Health approved documentation formatting for progress notes.
  • Apply community standards of practice for non-medical treatment modalities and ethical standards.
  • Perform mental status exams and conduct face-to-face clinical interviews.
  • Examine prior mental health records and institutional documents to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Develop and implement mental health education programs and resources for inmates.
  • Assist inmates in applying for entitlement benefits and community programs.
  • Facilitate transitions between settings within the institution.
  • Perform pre-release functions, including patient education and transition to community mental health treatment programs.
  • Participate in IDTT meetings and compile data from audits.
  • Provide written reports and consult with the Board of Prison Hearings and other CDCR staff.
  • Develop a therapeutic relationship with inmates, families, and caregivers to enhance effective treatment delivery.
  • Represent the Department at formal and informal settings regarding mental health matters.
  • Protect and maintain safety and security of property and supervise the conduct of inmates.

Requirements include a Psychologist license by the California State Board of Psychology and a strong understanding of community standards of practice.
