Job Description
Position Summary

The Medical Director - Clinical Excellence at Williamson Medical Center is responsible for providing high-quality, cost-effective, and evidence-based medical care to hospitalized patients. This role involves coordinating care for patients at discharge, facilitating hand-off to outpatient physicians, and ensuring seamless continuity of care.



Key Responsibilities

  • Assessment, evaluation, and clinical management of patients
  • Administering clinical services to provide the level of care required by current clinical standards and operational efficiency
  • Active management of patient's condition through diagnostic, preventative, and therapeutic medical services
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to determine the best care plan for the hospitalized patient
  • Facilitating timely admission, discharge, and transfer of patients
  • Providing information, education, and support to patients and their family members
  • Prescribing or recommending pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies
  • Consulting with appropriate physicians for patient care needs
  • Referring patients to appropriate sources of care as required
  • Communicating with primary care physicians or specialists as needed during admission and at discharge
  • Participating in the achievement of patient safety goals, quality measures, clinical outcomes, and financial performance consistent with Williamson Health objectives
  • Attending and participating in the hospital's Medicine Committee and Hospitalist Program Committee
  • Maintaining cordial relationships with patients, their families, and friends, as well as other interested groups in the community


Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role must possess the following qualifications:



  • Current licensure by the State of Tennessee as a medical doctor or osteopathic physician
  • Current DEA number
  • Leadership and managerial ability, good interpersonal relationships, and sound administrative principles
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Current ACLS certification
