Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Soil and Concrete Laboratory Technician to perform tests on construction materials such as soil and concrete for quality control / quality assurance in a laboratory setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct tests on samples in accordance with appropriate test standards and document results
  • Ensure tests are performed properly and in accordance with test standards; perform retests if necessary and note test result deviations
  • Log in samples to specific test specimen identification books
  • Audit and train field staff on soil classification, sample collection procedures, test specimen fabrication, and field equipment care
  • Assist supervising laboratory technicians to ensure lab and field equipment receive periodic calibration and maintenance
  • Read project plans, interpret project specifications, and apply those interpretations to laboratory work frequency and other minimum frequencies
  • Assist supervising laboratory technicians with inspections of laboratory with accrediting bodies

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field ideal
  • Experience with laboratory testing of construction materials desirable
  • Ability to comprehend test standards, practices, and specifications, and use spreadsheet software to analyze data
  • Ability to obtain industry certifications with full support from CME
  • Valid driver's license required
