As a Groomer Trainee at PetSmart, you'll have the opportunity to build personal relationships with your clients and become a part of their family. You'll get to know their pets' styles and personalities to create a customized, stylish experience just for them.

Our Training Program

You bring the passion, and we'll bring the training. Our comprehensive training program will set you up for success. You'll learn about different dog breeds, styling, and gain hands-on experience in our salon.

  • Stage 1: Bather - Get hands-on experience with our pets and learn about different dog breeds and styling.
  • Stage 2: Grooming Academy - Attend our paid Grooming Academy and gain insights from our experienced Academy Trainers.
  • Stage 3: Groomer Trainee - Put your education to work and begin to groom all different breeds and sizes of dogs.
  • Stage 4: Pet Stylist in Training - Build relationships with your own clients, advise on styles, and share in the joy of a client picking up their freshly coiffed pet.

The California pay range for this position is from $16.00 to $28.00 per hour. Exact rate of pay will be based on store location, position, and experience level. In no instance will PetSmart pay less than the minimum wage. This position is also eligible for benefits as described at https://www.petsmart.com.
