As a Police Officer with the City of Cookeville, you will play a critical role in maintaining public safety and enforcing laws and ordinances. This position requires excellent physical condition, agility, and strength, as well as good eyesight, hearing, and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities include:

• Enforcing laws and ensuring public safety through patrol and response to emergency situations
• Investigating accidents and crimes, and gathering evidence
• Directing and controlling traffic, and responding to alarms
• Conducting investigations, and appearing in court to present evidence
• Transporting prisoners to and from jails and mental health facilities
• Operating firearms, communication equipment, police vehicles, and other emergency equipment

Requirements include:

• Meet the Minimum Standards Law (TCA , and possess a valid Tennessee Driver's License
• Be 21 years of age, and have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Have sixty semester hours in criminal justice, police science, sociology, or other law enforcement-related courses
