About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin, LLC. As a key member of our Lunar Transportation business unit, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting software for our crewed lunar lander's cockpit displays.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop software for cockpit displays using C++.
  • Collaborate with pilots, human-factors experts, designers, and other specialists to ensure software meets safety and performance requirements.
  • Mentor and train engineers of all levels on software development best practices.
  • Identify and mitigate technical and schedule risks.
  • Develop and support simulators for display development and crew training.
  • Work with customers, systems engineers, and subsystem owners to develop software requirements.
  • Perform trade studies on software tools, architecture, and implementation.
  • Document software architecture and design using UML.
  • Write unit tests, support integration, and participate in code reviews.
  • Employ and support Continuous Integration tool chains and build servers.
Requirements
  • B.S. degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, aerospace, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of software development experience, including technical leadership and application development.
  • Expertise in C++ object-oriented design, development, and debugging.
  • Experience with OpenGL or other graphics APIs.
  • Experience with full lifecycle development, including gathering requirements, design, implementation, integration, verification, and release.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing safety-critical products using NPR 7150.2, DO-178, or other safety-critical standards.
  • Experience with Human Space Flight.
  • Experience with OpenGL or other graphics APIs.

Blue Origin, LLC offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $170,805.00-$239,127.00 for WA applicants. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
