This is a part-time position during day shifts.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of registered nursing staff, the individual in this role will deliver direct patient care. Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring vital signs and assessing surgical dressings.
- Assisting patients with daily living activities.
- Performing blood draws and collecting specimen samples.
- Observing and documenting patient conditions to communicate needs effectively.
- Contributing as a vital member of the interdisciplinary care team.
Essential Duties
- Conducting tests and managing patient care based on clinical findings.
- Documenting patient care activities, including daily living assistance.
- Reporting and recording vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, and pain levels.
- Assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Implementing cost-effective strategies to enhance patient outcomes.
- Ensuring patient safety and maintaining a secure clinical environment.
- Organizing and maintaining patient rooms and care supplies.
- Providing post-mortem care as needed.
- Collaborating with healthcare team members to execute care plans.
- Monitoring and documenting dietary intake and output.
- Administering care for urinary catheters and conducting blood glucose checks.
- Delivering wound care to promote healing and skin integrity.
- Assisting with specimen collection for laboratory analysis.
- Providing care for orthopedic and rehabilitation devices.
- Participating in regular patient rounding with the healthcare team.
- Responding to patient-triggered alarms and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Adhering to safety goals and reporting any safety risks or incidents.
- Maintaining professional vigilance for assigned patients.
- Utilizing safe lifting techniques in daily tasks.
- Enhancing patient flow and minimizing delays in care.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) in Maryland is mandatory.
- No prior experience is necessary; however, experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
