We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Psychologist to join our team at the State of South Carolina. As a Licensed Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing psychological services to youth involved with the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Key Responsibilities- Provide evaluation services, including clinical interviews with youth and family members, record reviews, and consultations with DJJ County Office staff and other agencies involved with youth being evaluated.
- Administer and interpret psychological tests and measures, and prepare reports and provide expert testimony in Family Court as required by attorneys or judges.
- Conduct waiver evaluations, which must be conducted by doctoral-level, licensed psychologists.
- Participate in DJJ treatment planning and interagency staffing, and consult in cases of youth with special needs.
- Provide consultation to DJJ staff regarding youth involved with DJJ.
- Attend to administrative matters, including relevant and/or mandatory trainings related to DJJ position.
- A doctorate in applied psychology from an accredited college or university and experience in applied psychology.
- Thorough knowledge of current psychological theory and practice, psychological evaluation and assessment techniques with children and adolescents, and some knowledge of forensic psychological issues in Family Court.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to present clear and comprehensive oral and written reports.
- The ability to work and communicate effectively with youth, families, staff, and other entities.
- The ability to work in a secured facility setting as needed, as some evaluations are with incarcerated youth.
- Must be mobile and able to lift 25 lbs.
- Able to work varied hours, and able to travel with some overnight stays.
- A doctoral degree in applied psychology from an APA-approved program in psychology and possession of a current license to practice psychology in the State of South Carolina or license eligibility within two years.
