Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pathologist to join our team at The University of Miami. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing patient care services, guiding gross description, and conducting microscopic examinations of surgical specimens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care services for patients at UMH, JMH, and satellites, as well as SCCC and satellites.
  • Guide gross description, take photographs of specimens when indicated, and perform tissue sampling.
  • Conduct microscopic examinations of surgical specimens, report findings, and verify coding diagnosis in a timely manner.
  • Participate in educational activities of pathology residents and fellows.
  • Participate in collaborative research opportunities to pursue basic/clinical or applied research, collaborate with other investigators, and seek sponsored programs funding from grants and contracts.
  • Participate in daily quality assurance and departmental hospital committees and working groups.
  • Maintain high standards of professional services to ensure departmental accreditation.
Requirements
  • MD/DO required.
  • Board Certified or Board eligible in Anatomic Pathology or Clinical Pathology.
  • Additional Board certifications are desirable.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida.
  • Strong general knowledge of Surgical Pathology and Pulmonary Pathology, including intraoperative evaluations.
  • Knowledge of other Pathology Subspecialties is desirable.
  • Experience with methods, tools, and measurements for quality improvement to improve work processes using a team-based model.
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards of JCAHO, CAP, and CLIA.
