Healthcare Support Specialist

Job Summary
The Healthcare Support Specialist will assist in creating a climate of health and well-being in the school by addressing the health needs of students, staff, and parents. This role will work closely with the school administration to advise and counsel on health issues, make referrals to school resources and community agencies, and provide first aid as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining a complete and up-to-date health record system using available technology.
- Monitor newly enrolled students to ensure compliance with state law and district policy regarding health issues.
- Advise and counsel students, staff, and parents on health issues, making referrals to school resources and community agencies as necessary.
- Provide first aid as needed and assist emergency care givers as applicable.
- Maintain appropriate records as required.
- Communicate with parents/guardians and staff regarding health issues and keep them informed about relevant health information.
- Communicate with health-related organizations in the community and surrounding areas as needed for students and staff.
Requirements
- CPR certification
- CNA certification, LPA license, or college education preferred
- Minimum of 1 year successful experience as a nurse's assistant or clinical assistant (preferred)
Work Environment
The Healthcare Support Specialist will work in a typical office setting with occasional travel within or outside of employment. The physical demands of this role include light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
Terms of Employment
Salary and benefits will be paid consistent with CSUSA salary and benefit policy. The length of the work year and hours of employment will be those established by Charter Schools USA.
FLSA Overtime Category
This role is non-exempt and subject to the minimum wage and overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Charter Schools USA's policy.
Declaration
The Charter Schools USA Human Resources Department retains the sole right and discretion to make changes to this job description. Any employee making changes unauthorized by Human Resources Department will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
