Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Speech Language Pathology Assistant to join our team at the Pasadena Independent School District. As a key member of our special education team, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome communication disorders and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the SLP Supervisor to conduct evaluations, develop Individual Educational Programs, and provide direct and indirect services to students with speech impairments.
  • Participate in the creation of a high-quality instructional speech and language program, including planning, scheduling, and implementing services as written in the IEP.
  • Provide services in inclusive settings, coordinate intervention with general education staff, and plan and use appropriate instructional strategies to meet individual student needs.
  • Prepare for Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings, including updating IEPs, completing present levels of academic and functional performance, and drafting accommodations and modifications.
  • Implement the student's IEP, provide written evidence of student growth, and assist in the intervention process for students suspected of having a speech impairment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and valid Texas license as an Assistant in Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Ability to use accepted tests and measurements to assess communication disorders and conditions, knowledge of evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditions, and excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions

This position requires regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations, moderate lifting and carrying, and exposure to students who may display violent behavior. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain emotional control under stress, interpret policy and procedures, and coordinate district functions.
