Role Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant provides essential clinical support to patients undergoing examinations and treatments in an outpatient environment, working under the guidance of the attending healthcare provider and practice office manager or clinical supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients' overall health status and record vital signs and weight.
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations, diagnostic tests, and treatments.
  • Train and orient assigned staff as necessary.
  • Deliver basic patient care as directed.
  • Ensure timely communication of test results to patients.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all interventions, patient/family responses, and medications in the medical record.
  • Encourage wellness by providing educational materials and conveying provider instructions.
  • Manage patient phone inquiries regarding appointment urgency.
  • Oversee inventory of supplies and ensure equipment is well-maintained.
  • Monitor accuracy in patient medical records and maintain necessary reports and statistics.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding practice, patients, and staff.
  • Utilize various office and medical equipment, including telephones, computers, and diagnostic tools.
  • Ensure a clean and sanitary workspace.
  • Keep equipment in proper working order.
  • Facilitate referrals and pre-certifications as required.
  • Schedule patient appointments as directed by the physician and communicate details to patients.
  • Receive calls from hospitals/nursing homes and relay pertinent information to practitioners promptly.
  • Collaborate with patients, physicians, and other team members in a team-oriented approach to patient care.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

No specific education level required; however, must meet the standards for obtaining the necessary license and/or certification as mandated by the relevant authority.

Experience Requirements:

A minimum of one year of experience is required in a relevant field or a combination thereof. Experience in neurology is preferred.

Licensure Requirements:

Must possess a valid LPN/LVN license or hold a CCMA or equivalent recognized medical assistant certification. CPR certification is mandatory.
