Young Adult Advocate

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Young Adult Advocate/Case Manager to join our team at Axess Family Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for advocating on behalf of young adults ages 18-24 who are experiencing homelessness and/or victimization.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with courts, law enforcement, prosecutors, legal services, hospitals, and other social service agencies to minimize victimization.
- Work with Jobs and Family Services, Metropolitan Housing Authorities, and other social service agencies to address issues of homelessness.
- Complete client intakes and establish services plans in collaboration with residents, providing advocacy and supportive services and evaluating progress.
- Accept referrals from area criminal justice providers to interact with victims of violent crime, conducting professional and confidential intakes and assessments, including civil protection order assistance.
- Meet with clients at safe locations for early crisis intervention and discussion of their options.
- Oversee attendance of court hearings with legal advocacy clients to explain procedures and support decisions.
- Provide follow-up with clients and service providers as needed.
- Report to advisory boards/supervisors monthly to give and receive input about the position.
- Knowledge of client-centered models of crisis intervention skills and ability to teach crisis intervention.
- Ability to model open communication and work in a team structure.
- Understanding of homelessness and victimization.
- Experience working with young adults.
- Valid Ohio driver's license and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability.
- Ability to meet agency requirements for criminal background checks.
