As a Pulmonary Function Technician at Henry Ford Health System, you will play a vital role in performing routine and specialized pulmonary function studies, ensuring accurate measurements of lung capacity and volume. Your expertise will be essential in assisting physicians with invasive procedures and performing complex special studies and cardiopulmonary exercise tests.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform routine spirometry to measure lung capacity and volume
- Conduct plethysmography to measure lung and airway resistances
- Administer Nitrogen or Helium FRC testing to measure lung volume
- Perform single-breath and/or intra-breath diffusion capacity testing
- Conduct 6-min walk and O2 determination studies
- Perform arterial punctures and capillary blood draws
- Responsible for daily calibration of equipment and routine preventative maintenance
- Perform methacholine challenge and/or bronchoprovocation testing
- Assist physician with invasive procedures
- Perform more complex special studies and cardiopulmonary exercise tests
- High school graduate with some college-level science courses
- Minimum of one (1) year experience as a pulmonary function technician
- Must have obtained either a CPFT or RPFT certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Licensure by the State of Michigan in respiratory care
