Breast Imaging Specialist
Position Overview:
The Breast Imaging Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care within the breast imaging department. This position focuses on producing precise radiographic images while ensuring adherence to safety standards and contributing to the smooth operation of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Radiographic Imaging:
- Generate high-quality radiographic images through effective positioning and technique. Ensure accurate patient alignment for imaging procedures. Maintain equipment performance and promptly report any issues.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Conduct visual inspections of imaging equipment and report any safety hazards. Follow radiation safety protocols in accordance with regulatory guidelines. Keep radiation exposure levels as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
- Patient Care:
- Verify patient identity prior to procedures through clear communication. Provide empathetic care and ensure patient comfort during examinations. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate a seamless patient journey.
- Administrative Duties:
- Utilize the Radiology Information Computer System (RICS) for documentation and order entry. Report equipment issues and low supply levels to management. Participate in organizational meetings and training sessions as required.
- Flexibility and Commitment:
- Exhibit adaptability in work schedules to meet patient needs. Foster a positive workplace culture and uphold the values of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Mammography. State licensure in New Jersey. Strong communication abilities and attention to detail. Capacity to work effectively within a healthcare team.
